Novak Djokovic has just been announced as the new face of Lacoste, signalling an end to the Serbian tennis star’s five-year deal with Uniqlo.
According to the french label, Djokovic embodies the values of its founder, René Lacoste, as they both share traits such as “fair play, tenacity and elegance.” Announcing the signing in Monte Carlo earlier today, the brand noted that future initiatives with Djokovic will include a namesake clothing label to be worn on court, starting with the French Open next month.
The Djokovic performance collection is comprised of piqué polo shirts — done in hues of blue, white and red — and shorts, which come in white and black. Designed for comfort, the range is finished with Djokovic’s signature etched on the left sleeve of the polo.
Alongside the clothing lineup, Djokovic will star in the brand’s latest campaign and short film, which was directed by Julien Pujol and features a “changeover with Djokovic and the founder.”
